Who Has It Tougher?

Marine Enlisted Recuits, or Marine Officer Candidates?

OCS is a screening and evaluating process.

I have been asked, and so was Caleb before leaving for OCS, "Who Has It Tougher?" This article explains the difference between Marine boot camp and Marine Officer Candidate School. Here are some key differences.

1. Different mindset... "The have to be self-motivated . . . if they don't want to be here, they're gonna leave."

2. Different standard... "The candidates are continually evaluated."

3. Different training process... "The candidates hit the ground running. When we tell them to do something, we expect it to get done without constant supervision."

4. Different motivation... "You have to encourage them."

5. Different physical training... " it's more intense . . . everything is more on an individual level."

There is much more in the article—well worth your time to read it!

Once again, thank you for your thoughts, prayers, letters of encouragement. They are very appreciated! Every time we get a letter from Caleb or talk to him on the phone, Caleb asks us to convey his appreciation for your involvement in this endeavor! Caleb especially enjoyed this surprise visit!
