First Letters

Tough training. Very demanding. Staying the course.

Attitude

Caleb wrote about a candidate with the wrong attitude. This candidate excelled at the Physical Fitness Test. While doing the pull-ups test, the candidate hit the maximum reps (20) and was ordered to stop by the drill sergeant. The candidate continued on, completing a total of 28 pull-ups before obeying the order and dropping back to the ground. The candidate was sent home.

The issue is attitude. This candidate demonstrated an arrogant, show-off attitude. His dismissal demonstrates that there is no place for this attitude in the Corps.

Interesting! The more I learn about the US Marine Corps, the more I admire it. Caleb is clearly working with an excellent organization.

Caleb mentioned that he really, really appreciated the letters he has received. Please continue writing, He needs the encouragement. This is a tough program. He is being pushed to the very limits of his abilities—something he has never experienced before. He will succeed, I am confident of that, but every bit of encouragement we can provide will make him stronger. Thanks for writing to him!

    1. I was very surprised by this story. I anticipated that the guy would have been given a rousing "OORAH" for excelling and exceeding the high standards of the Corps. I was impressed.
